Turkesterone vs creatine comparison

Turkesterone vs Creatine: Which Is Better for Muscle Growth? (And Should You Stack Them?)

Siddharth Dev

The short version

  • Creatine helps you train harder. Turkesterone may help you build more from that training.
  • Only buying one? Start with creatine.
  • Already on creatine and plateaued? Add turkesterone.
  • They stack well together with no known interaction.

"Should I take turkesterone or creatine?" is one of the most searched supplement questions right now. The short answer surprises people: if you're only buying one, buy creatine first. If you already take creatine and want more, that's where turkesterone comes in. Here's why.

How creatine works

Your muscles use a molecule called ATP for short, intense effort, like a heavy set of squats. ATP runs out in seconds. Creatine is stored in muscle as phosphocreatine, which rebuilds ATP quickly, so you can squeeze out an extra rep or two per set.

More reps over weeks means more training volume, and more volume means more muscle and strength. Creatine also pulls water into muscle cells, which makes muscles look fuller.

How turkesterone works

Turkesterone is a plant ecdysteroid. It doesn't give you energy for a set. Instead, research suggests it may increase muscle protein synthesis, the process of actually building new muscle tissue after training, likely through the PI3K/Akt pathway and estrogen receptor beta rather than through testosterone. (Full breakdown in what is turkesterone.)

So in simple terms: creatine helps you train harder; turkesterone may help you build more from that training. They work on different parts of the process, which is why they don't compete.

Research: how strong is the evidence?

Creatine is the most researched sports supplement in the world, with hundreds of studies over 30+ years. The International Society of Sports Nutrition calls it the most effective legal supplement for increasing high-intensity exercise capacity and lean body mass. The evidence is about as solid as it gets.

Turkesterone has much less research. The strongest human result comes from ecdysterone: a 2019 study of 46 men over 10 weeks found greater muscle mass and bench press gains versus control. Other studies have shown no significant effect, and most trials are small. Promising, but not settled.

Side by side

Creatine

Main job: more strength and reps per set

Dose: 3–5 g per day

Noticeable in: 2–4 weeks

Scale weight: often +1–2 kg early, mostly water in muscle

Evidence: very strong

Cycling: not needed

Turkesterone

Main job: may boost muscle protein synthesis and recovery

Dose: 1,000–2,000 mg extract per day

Noticeable in: 4–8 weeks

Scale weight: not linked to water weight

Evidence: promising but early

Cycling: 8–12 weeks on, 2–4 off

Side effects: creatine is very safe; occasional bloating if you take a big dose at once. Turkesterone looks well tolerated in short-term studies, with limited long-term data (details in turkesterone side effects). Cost: creatine is one of the cheapest supplements per month; turkesterone costs more because the plant extract is expensive to source and standardise.

So which is better?

  • Beginner, tight budget: creatine. Get your training, protein and sleep right first.
  • Training 1+ years, already on creatine, gains slowing down: add turkesterone. This is exactly who it's for.
  • Want to avoid water weight (e.g. weight-class athletes close to a weigh-in): turkesterone may suit you better short-term.
  • Want the best possible natural results: use both.

Can you stack turkesterone and creatine?

Yes. There's no known interaction, and because they work through different mechanisms, stacking them makes sense on paper. It's one of the most common natural stacks among lifters.

Simple daily stack

Creatine monohydrate

5 g once a day, any time, in water or your shake

Turkesterone

1 capsule of Turk-Gainz (1,000 mg) with lunch, 1 capsule with dinner

Protein

1.6–2.2 g per kg bodyweight across the day. For a 75 kg person that's 75 × 1.6 = 120 g to 75 × 2.2 = 165 g of protein

Keep the training hard and progressive. No supplement stack fixes a bad program.

Frequently asked questions

Is turkesterone stronger than creatine?

"Stronger" is the wrong way to compare them. Creatine has far better proof. Turkesterone targets a different part of muscle growth. They're complementary, not rivals.

Does creatine or turkesterone cause hair loss?

Neither has solid evidence linking it to hair loss. One small 2009 creatine study showed a rise in DHT, but it has never been replicated and didn't measure hair loss. Turkesterone has no androgenic mechanism.

Should I take both at the same time?

You can. Timing doesn't matter much for creatine. Just take turkesterone with food.
